Social Studies Education
Our undergraduate and graduate programs deepen students' comprehension of the social sciences and history, while highlighting how to teach global connections, constitutional history, historical thinking and the significance of diversity in the United States and worldwide. Alumnus Lamont A. Flowers (M.A. Social Studies Education ’98, Ph.D. Higher Education ’00) has been appointed to serve on the State Commission for Minority Affairs in South Carolina.
The UI Foundation has awarded assistant professor Jason Harshman (Social Studies Education) a Longview Foundation grant to carry out a project on Educating for a Global Perspective. Congratulations!
