Course Description
Course Objectives
  1. To strengthen abilities in classroom interaction and instruction.
  2. To develop skills in self-evaluation of curriculum and teaching practices.
  3. To gain a practical understanding of current issues and practices of teaching.
  4. To complete job placement documents, electronic portfolio, resume, teaching philosophy and to prepare for job interviews.
Course Requirements and Evaluation
  1. Attendance: Absences will impact your seminar grade. You may make up half of the credit for a missed class with a written paper with topic to be assigned. Involvement with a school function for student teaching, i.e. parent conferences, will be an exception. Please call Nan at home and leave a message on the answering machine if you will be absent.
  2. Quality contribution to class discussions.
  3. Quality, completed assignments, i.e. resume, issues presentation, final presentation.
  4. Student teaching journal. You will be given the journal pages with questions. Due dates are listed below. These journal entries document your preparation for contribution to class discussion, as well as your understanding of classroom interactions and self-evaluation.
