Course Description

Methods for Teaching Mathematics in Grades K-6. The main course emphases include: teaching arithmetic algorithms, using and teaching problem solving, applying different learning theories to different instructional goals, examining commercially available instructional materials, learning how to utilize semi-concrete and concrete manipulatives, using stories to teach mathematics, and identifying common problems in student learning.
