| Course Description | |
| Orientation to elementary education is designed to provide elementary education majors with an overview of the elementary education program by clarifying program requirements including the state teaching performance standards, ten-hour volunteer experience, mid-level practicum, and student teaching. Information will also be presented relative to the advising, iowa teacher performance standards & licensure, and job placement process. Additional topics of discussion will include having students become familiar with the roles, behaviors, and responsibilities of a classroom teacher. Areas of particular focus will include classroom observation, unit and lesson planning, and classroom management. | |
