Application Process for Student Teaching

Student teaching is the culminating field experience of the teacher education program. This field experience is an all day, full-semester placement in a school setting that is generally completed the final fall or spring semester of enrollment in the teacher education program. Applications must be submitted one year in advance.  Information regarding student teaching options and the application process are discussed in detail during the elementary or secondary orientation course. Questions may be directed to the staff in the Office of Field Experiences in N310 LC.

Prepare to apply

  1. Meet with your advisor to confirm the semester you will be ready to student teach
  2. (Optional) Attend a student teaching registration meeting
  3. Review options for student teaching

Apply

  1. Complete the web-based personal information
  2. Complete the web-based student teaching application form
  3. Complete the web-based student teaching biographical data and professional information form
  4. Secondary students only (including art and music) download and complete the appropriate program area guide sheet with faculty signature
  5. (Optional) Complete the application for special site placement
