Program Guides for Secondary (5-12) Teacher Education Programs

Select from the following list for a sample of the course requirements for the state approved teacher licensure programs offered by The University of Iowa College of Education. These lists can be used to guide you through your program once admitted and will be required to accompany the licensure application when you have completed your program.

Initial licensure is obtained through a program outlined as a Teacher Education Program.  All students admitted March 2011 or later will be required to complete the Teacher Leader Certificate Program requirements.  Completion of these requirements does not lead to an endorsement on your teaching license.

The Secondary (5-12) Teacher Education Programs allow you to obtain initial licensure by completing the courses outlined on the major guides. You may then add additional 5-12 licensure areas by completing added endorsement programs.

Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to access these lists.
