Important Degree Requirement Information
For Masters Degree Students -
RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT – After admission to a degree program, at least 24
semester hours in residence must be completed under the auspices of The University of Iowa. RESIDENCE CREDIT IS NOT ALLOWED FOR COURSE WORK COMPLETED WHILE ON NON-DEGREE/NON-DEPARTMENTAL STATUS. -
Courses taken ten or more years prior to the comprehensive examination must be updated if they are to be included on the Plan of Study. Contact your advisor of the Office of Education Services regarding the update procedure. Course work over ten years old which has not been verified by an update letter must be deleted from the Plan of Study. -
Students must be registered during the session in which the degree is to be conferred. Registration in a guided independent course may satisfy this requirement however the carry-over of a mark of “Incomplete” may not be considered as having satisfied the registration policy. For additional information regarding any of the above, please refer to the Graduate College Manual of Rules and Regulations at www.grad.uiowa.edu, OR contact the Office of Education Services, N310 Lindquist Center, 335-5260. COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATIONS – The Office of Education Services schedules the
comprehensive exams each session. Please stop by this office for application materials the session before you plan to take the exams. Upon completion of your current degree objective, you must file in the Office of Education
Services a Request for Change of Graduate College Status if you wish to take additional course work in the College of Education. Updated 7/11 |
