Information for Prospective Students
M.A. in Social Foundations of Education The masters program is designed to provide students with a broad overview of the field. Programs are tailored to build on the strengths and aspirations of students and to develop related areas of expertise that will be of value in their future professional work. Graduates typically work in education policy positions that demand a broad analytical understanding of educational issues. Ph.D. in Social Foundations of Education The doctoral program in Social Foundations is interdisciplinary in nature and designed to prepare students for positions in academic institutions and educational policy making organizations. The program places a heavy emphasis on building research skills. The faculty teach and do research in the areas of philosophy of education, history of education, sociology of education, and comparative/international education. Recent graduates are working in Social Foundations of Education programs in universities, teacher education programs, as well as in business and international education organizations.
