Letter Service & Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation continue to be a valuable part of the screening and selection process for individuals seeking positions in teaching, research, administration or for admittance to graduate or professional programs. The College of Education is pleased to offer University of Iowa students safe, secure, affordable, and reliable credentialing services in partnership with Interfolio, a leader in higher education credentialing services.

 Benefits of using Interfolio’s services include:

• Complete online management of letters of recommendation (including confidential letters);
• One-day service on all requests to send letters (both paper and electronic);
• Online storage of other application documents, such as resumes, CVs, writing samples, cover letters, with ample storage space;
• Interfolio is FERPA compliant and uses multiple layers of technological security to ensure that your documents are protected;
• An affordable billing structure with multiple service options.

All letters files established between 1995 and 2010 have been transferred to Interfolio. To obtain access to your letters at Interfolio, simply follow these steps:

1. Go to www.interfolio.com and register for an Interfolio account.
2. Send an email to signup@interfolio.com with your First name, last name, and Interfolio Username (generally your email) and request that your letters from your University of Iowa account be added to your Interfolio account.
3. Within 2 business days, Interfolio will add your letters of recommendation from your University of Iowa Professional File. Once your letters have been added, you’ll have full access to manage your letters through Interfolio.
