M.S.(Master
of Science)
Admission
Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate College. The Master of Science (M.S.) program in science education assumes that candidates have completed an undergraduate major in a given science area (or combination of science areas), science education, or in elementary education with a science emphasis. Teaching licensure/certification is recommended.
Coursework Requirements
The M.S. in science education requires a minimum of 38 s.h. of graduate coursework. A candidate's specific program of study will
be approved on an individual basis with the science education faculty.

Final
Examination
Students must complete a thesis. A final oral examination
is administered on campus where the candidate defends his/her
thesis. This examination should include a critical inquiry
into the purposes, methods, and results of the thesis research investigation.
Examining
Committee
The
final examination is conducted by a committee
of no fewer than three members of the graduate faculty. A
member of the graduate faculty from outside science education
is required in those cases where a related field outside science
education is included in the examining committee.
