Description
Student Teaching Scholarship
This award is presented to an undergraduate student who will student teach for a full semester in elementary or secondary education. Awards will be based on documentation of financial need, promise in the field of teaching as evidenced by the student’s personal statement and letters of recommendation, and grade point average.
Award
$1,500
Eligibility
- Students who have paid a substantial portion of their college expenses and can document need
- Students with good grade point averages and exceptional promise as teachers
- Students who have applied for and expect approval for either fall or spring semester student teaching (2008-2009) and who will be registered for at least 12 semester hours
- Students planning to teach after completing the program

How to Apply
Application by student is required. Application Form
To receive maximum consideration, submit the following items by the deadline:
- Completed and signed application form.
- Student’s personal statement.
- A one-two page resume that lists education (including name of institution, dates attended, number of hours earned, degrees awarded), honors/awards/scholarships, service activities and work experience.
- Two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member or instructor in your academic area and one from someone else who knows you very well; e.g., instructor, advisor, residence hall advisor, coach, employer.

Additional Information
The award will be credited directly to the student’s University account at the beginning of the student teaching semester. Funding will come from College of Education accounts at The University of Iowa Foundation.
Please note that all scholarships are included when need is assessed by the Office of Student Financial Aid to determine eligibility for loans. |
