Learning Climate: Photo of Class Project
(Lesson Plan)

Photo of Class ProjectThis photo is a representation of all of the work the students put into their class rainforest. It displays the products of many of my lesson plans such as the painted animals, panels, trees, bromeliads, toucans, chameleons, and tissue paper flowers. (April 16-19 lesson plans)

Assessment/Evaluation: This lesson addressed all three domains of learning:

  • The affective domain: Students worked in a collaborative setting and were expected to contribute ideas, make decisions, and distribute the work.
  • The cognitive domain: Students used mathematical knowledge to measure and recreate shapes and objects to include in the rainforest.
  • The psycho-motor domain: Students used fine motor coordination to cut materials and to complete the construction of the display

If I were to teach this lesson again I would arrange to leave the rainforest up for a longer period of time. Due to the need to move on to a different unit and put the classroom back together, the rainforest has to be torn down right after the showcase at the family night.

I want prospective employers to notice the complexities of the rainforest and the details that the students both instigated and achieved through hard work. This is an incredible accomplishment that was done by the students working together as a team.
