The Last Newsletter that I Sent Home during My Head Teaching First and Second Grade News Dear Families, We have had a very busy week! We are currently studying bugs in their natural habitats in our Living Things science unit. We really enjoyed creating our snail habitat on Monday, unfortunately, many of our snails died unexpectedly. We have talked about this as a class, and your students have been very accepting of the fact that sometimes "pets" die. We may replace our snails, as they died so quickly, but that is not a certainty as of yet. We will keep you posted. Your children will be bringing their bean plants home tomorrow, as our experiment is now finished. We were able to learn first-hand, just what a small plant needs to continue to grow and be healthy. We also finished our Cinderella unit this week. Your children did a wonderful job participating in this unit! As I mentioned last week, they really impressed me with how well they compared the different versions of the story. Ask them to share some of the stories with you. As the weather gets warmer, your children are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them to school. This will enable them to keep water at their desk, which in turn will decrease the trips to the drinking fountain. A few more things that you should note:
Sadly for me, tomorrow is my last day teaching your children. I will be here at Long fellow until next Thursday, May 10th, but Ms. Chapman will return to full-time teaching on Monday. I cannot tell you how much I have appreciated the opportunity to get to know each of your children individually. Teaching them has been pure joy for me, and I will miss all of them a great deal. Thank you for all of your support this semester, and thank you for sharing your children with me. I'm so proud of all they have accomplished these last few weeks! Have a wonderful weekend! |
