Management Setting standards, creating structure with thoughtful & creative lesson planning, using proactive strategies and addressing students' needs through a child-centered approach allow me to have a supportive and safe classroom.

Reflection of Video Taped Classroom Session

I learned that video taping myself while I teach will be very beneficial to my career. It can help me see how I react to students in a large group and a small group situation and it gives me an idea if the lesson or activity is effective and if students are staying on-task. Video taping is an excellent self-reflection tool; it clearly shows me what my students see and hear. It is a great device for viewing non-verbal messages I am giving them and how those non-verbal messages may or may not affect their reactions to the lesson.

The equipment was discreet (tripod was set up in the back of the room) so students were not performing for the camera. The students were focused and not distracted with the idea of being filmed.
