GRS

Michael:

Michael is in third grade but I accidentally gave him the fourth grade test instead of the third grade one.   He still read with 95% word recognition and 70% comprehension, both at the instructional level.  I think the third grade story might have been too easy for him for word recognition so I would keep him at this fourth grade level to give him more work on comprehension.

Rachel:

I gave her the third grade test and she read with 99% word recognition (at the independent level) and comprehended the story at 70% (the instructional level).  This seemed a little easy for her to read as far as word recognition goes but I would keep her at this level for comprehension practice.  I think most students in this class are beyond the third grade reading level at this point in the year as there has been a lot of emphasis on reading and comprehension in the classroom.
