I provide a variety of media choices to meet different learning styles in my classroom. Accommodations include audio tape recordings of books (English & Spanish), audio quizzes, abd assistive technologies using screen reader and voice recognition.
Several of my students required accommodations for their particular learning situations. Books were recorded on audio tape in both English and Spanish for students to take home and use. Alternatives to regular paper quizzes were also provided to students who needed additional time or personal assistance. Volunteer parents acted as readers to a number of students. Anecdotal notes recorded by the volunteers kept me informed of new words learned by students.

At various times during the unit, I used assistive technologies including:
  • scanned written materials with book reader and saved to cassette;
  • incorporated voice recognition system for computer assignments;
  • substituted trackball for mouse;
  • downloaded and implemented screen talker;
  • printed handouts in Braille;
  • designed handouts and tests in large font size;
  • incorporated large text displays.
