Q.	What is this Web space for?
A.	This Web space is for a professional portfolio that will contain information on and examples of your qualifications, skills and experiences. You will be adding to your portfolio continually with "artifacts" from courses and field experiences demonstrating your professional qualifications. Your Web space is for professional materials only, please do not jeopardize this project by abusing your Web access!
Q.	How does it all work?
A.	You will download a web site template for your educational program to a personal storage device such as a USB mini-drive. You will customize the site with SharePoint Designer or another Web page editor. When you are ready to put your portfolio on the World-Wide Web you "upload," or save, your files to your space on the ePortfolio Web server. You will contimuyally update your site as you go through your academic program.
Q.	How much space is allocated for each student?
A.	Students receive 40 MB of space. In special circumstances, extra Web space can be requested by sending an e-mail to John Achrazoglou at john-achrazoglou@uiowa.edu
Q.	What will be my Web address?
A.	It will be in the form: http://eportfolio.education.uiowa.edu/YourHawkID
Q.	How will prospective employers see my Web site?
A.	The eportfolio Web site is password protected. Your Web space also has a folder named employment. Materials uploaded to the employment folder are not password protected and can be viewed by anyone on the Internet. When you give prospective employers your Web address they can access your employment folder with the following URL: employment.education.uiowa.edu/YourHawkID For more information on using your portfolio for job seeking see the link ePortfolio as a job-seeking tool on this site.
Q.	How will I receive information on the ePortfolio™ project?
A.	The College of Education will send important information to your University of Iowa e-mail address. For more information on setting up your e-mail account or having messages forwarded to your preferred e-mail address see Setting up your e-mail account.
Q.	How long will I have Web space?
A.	Your Web space will be active two years after you graduate.
Q.	How do I create my Web site?
A.	Download the eportfolio template for your major area and customize the pages as needed with SharePoint Designer or another HTML editor. You should purchase a USB mini-drive to save your Web site folders and files.
Q.	How do I save my Web site so it is on the Internet?
A.	After creating your Web site and saving it on your USB drive use an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) application like Fetch or WS_FTP to send files to the Web server. For more information see Uploading your ePortfolio to the Web. The FTP applications are available on every computer in the Education Technology Center. You can download your own copy from the ITS Help Desk. Fetch is recommended for Macintoshes, WS_FTP for Windows-based computers.
