The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) is composed of the following organizations: The Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR), is responsible for identifying, assessing, and seeking to coordinate and promote cooperation among all Federal program activities, projects, and plans with respect to the conduct of research related to rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities. The Research Sciences Division (RSD) is responsible for national and international programs in research, training, and technical and clinical evaluation. The Program Development Division (PDD) is responsible for policy planning, identification, implementation, analysis, monitoring, and evaluation of Congressionally-mandated NIDRR activities.

The Rehabilitation Service Administration (RSA) provides national leadership for, and administration of, basic State and formula grant programs, service projects and rehabilitation training discretionary grant programs, the Randolph-Sheppard vending facilities and Helen Keller National Center programs, and evaluates all authorized programs to improve management and effectiveness. These programs develop and implement comprehensive and coordinated programs of vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, and independent living, for individuals with disabilities, through services, training, research and economic opportunities, in order to maximize their employability, independence, and integration into the workplace and the community.

The Rehabilitation Recruitment Center (RRC) is a unique resource of job listings in the public rehabilitation program. The service is free to public rehabilitation agencies and individuals seeking employment in public rehabilitation. For those seeking internship opportunities, many of the jobs listed in the databases meet the pay back criteria for the Rehabilitation Services Administration.

O*NET, the Occupational Information Network, is a comprehensive database system for collecting, organizing, describing and disseminating data on job characteristics and worker attributes. O*NET replaces the outmoded Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT), but offers more than merely up-dated data. O*NET provides a new conceptual framework that reflects the advanced technologies, adaptable workplace structures and wide-ranging skills required by today's changing workplace.

It is responsible for the administration and enforcement of over 180 federal statutes. This site offers a resource of current informationof ADA, JTPA, and the national Job bank.

CORE Home Page

The Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredits graduate programs in Rehabilitation Counselor Education (RCE). The purpose of CORE is to promote, through accreditation, the effective delivery of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities by promoting and fostering continuing review and improvement of master's degree level RCE Programs. CORE's accreditation process promotes program self-improvement rather than outside censure. A concomitant purpose is to meet the personnel needs of both public and private rehabilitation agencies by providing graduates who have the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to provide rehabilitation counseling services to individuals with physical, mental, and/or emotional disabilities.

National Board for Certified Counselors

The International Counselor Network (ICN) was started to cut down on the isolation felt by many counselors who do not have enough time or opportunity to connect with their colleagues in person. The network has grown to several hundred members since it began in February 1993. Partnership for a Drug-Free America

The premise on which the Partnership was based is that this nation's drug problem was driven by societal attitudes that accept drugs and the perception that drugs were not dangerous. Based on the belief that changing attitudes is the key to changing behavior, the Partnership's mission is to reduce demand for illegal drugs by changing public attitudes about drugs -- to "denormalize" drug use, by making use less glamorous and less acceptable. Includes a comprehensive database of what drugs look like and what they do, resources for parents on how to raise a drug-free child, and answers to questions on many drug-related topics.

ODAAT: (One Day at a Time) The 12-Step Discussion List
The list is open to any persons desiring a forum to share experience, strength, and hope with other people recovering from addiction, abuse, mental illness, etc. This list focuses on discussions of recovery from alcoholism and addictions of all kinds through the use of the Twelve Steps. Members of AA, NA, OA, Al-Anon, and many others are represented, but anyone interested in recovery is welcome. ODAAT can be quite active at times and it is not unusual to receive 100 messages in a week. SOLUTION
Support for creating life changes. SOLUTION is an open, unmoderated support and self-help mailing list for creating life changes. Virtually any topic related to making changes in any area of life is permitted. Sample topics include changing habits (e.g., procrastinating), moods (e.g., depression), behaviors (e.g., overeating), thinking patterns (e.g., obsessing), and addictions (e.g., drinking). The list utilizes a format called PSyCHE (an acronym representing Problem, Solution, Comment, and Help), which is explained in detail in the welcome letter.
