Student Conduct Behavior Expectations: Students from the REACH Program must abide by the identified University of Iowa, Code of Student Life outlining general and academic conduct regulations and the Standards of Student Behavior in the Residence Hall. Depending upon the severity of an infraction or violation, REACH staff may be involved in any resulting disciplinary decision or action. Typically, REACH students will follow the University of Iowa’s procedures identified for alleged violations of the Code of Student Life and/or Standards of Student Behavior in the Residence Halls. Violation of codes: REACH students can be dismissed from the University of Iowa and the REACH Program. Violations of the Code of Student Life can result in sanctions including written warnings, probation, restitution and fines, exclusion from University facilities or activities, a no contact order, suspension or expulsion. A student may also be involuntarily separated from the residence halls if an infraction occurred or involved the Residence Halls. If a student is not living in the residence hall, they will be dismissed from the REACH Program.
Disciplinary Procedures: Information regarding specific disciplinary procedures may be found on the University of Iowa website. Notification of disciplinary decisions and actions will be mailed to the student from the hearing officer. Students should follow the instructions outlined in the decision notice. The REACH staff will provide support to the student to resolve the concerns outlined in the letter. Students dismissed due to conduct may be notified by the REACH Director, Dean of Students or the Director of Housing.
Appealing a conduct dismissal: Appealing a dismissal due to conduct is conducted through the Provost’s office. Please refer to the University of Iowa’s website for further information.
