result in scores being higher than they should be or misrepresent what students know regarding the larger domain of scores?
Probably not, but ...

Negative Consequences:

  • The teacher has incorporated “live” ITBS items into his instructions. If he uses these items for instructional purposes in future years, it is likely that students’ scores will be higher than they should be on this particular set of skills because of the students’ exposure to the exact same items in advance of testing.
