Negative Consequences:

  • If the questions were on the test to be administered, students likely would remember the items and their response would be a reflection of memorization rather than achievement.

  • Even if the questions were not the same as the ones on the test to be administered, the teacher’s instruction will be focused explicitly on the sample of ITBS items. This narrowed focus is likely to result in scores that are higher than they should be (i.e., misrepresentation of information).
