November 2009

LGBT Issues in the Schools

Thursday, November 5, 2009
3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Shambaugh Auditorium, UI Main Library

The College of Education Diversity Committee presents a panel discussion focusing on LGBT issues in the schools, facilitated by Will Coghill-Behrends, Diversity Committee Co-chair. High school and college students, parents, and teachers will share their experiences and discuss creating safe, inclusive schools.

The ability to make learning accessible to all children in a classroom is a skill teachers must possess when leaving the UI. Future teachers as well as current faculty and staff will benefit from hearing about the challenges faced in school by these individuals. We invite you to join us for this discussion and to bring questions of your own. The event is part of a class but is also free and open to the public.
