Format Design

Hyperlinks: Authors are encouraged to include hyperlinks to web based resources and sites related to their articles. Authors may incorporate their e-mail addresses in hypertext within their articles if they desire. Hyperlinks should be included in the article text in the word processing format.

Tables, Graphics and Charts: The use of graphic media such as Tables, Graphics and Charts is encouraged to clarify points discussed in articles. The JERL requests graphics be in JPEG (.jpg) format to simplify incorporation into HTML and because this format is read by most browsers. Graphics should be included as separate files and referenced within the document in brackets as "[insert graphic here: picture1.jpg]." Slide presentations may be included as separate files, both PPT and PPS, and should be referenced within the document in brackets as "[insert SS here: slides1.pps]."

Audio Clips: Audio clips may be embedded in articles to highlight points made in the text. Audio clips should be referenced within the document in brackets as "[insert audio clip here: audio clip1]."

Video Clips: Video clips may be embedded in articles. Video segments should be recorded on VHS video tape and should accompany the floppy disk or Zip Disk. Video recordings should be in clear focus, with clear audio, and be self-explanatory.

References: References will appear at the end of the article. References should be hyper-linked in the text as "(Bartlett & Wanat, 1999 [HL: reference.txt]); Portman, 2000 [HL: reference.txt]). References should follow the style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th ed.)
