Objectives
Upon completion of the AT Summer Institute, the participants should be able to:
- Successfully use and be able to train others to use AT software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking Version 9, Kurzweil 3000, Read and Write Gold, WordQ and SpeakQ, IntelliTools, and Clicker 5
- Understand the basics of NIMAS and non-NIMAS and how they affect obtaining accessible materials for students with varying disabilities
- Understand how to incorporate the concept of Universal Design for Learning into a classroom setting to benefit all students
- Identify the key issues involved with AT and transitioning both between schools within a district and from a secondary to post secondary school
- Understand the legal requirements of AT in a school setting
- Be able to effectively write AT into an IEP.
