Dr. Niki Davis

Dr. Niki Davis is Chair of the College of Education, University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Prior to her current position, Dr. Davis was the Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching at Iowa State University. In addition, she was part-time professor of 'ICT in Education' in the University of London Knowledge Lab. She received her doctorate in psychology from Queen's University, Belfast, United Kingdom, in 1976.

Dr. Davis' research centers on information and communication technologies to enhance teacher education. Early work increased teachers' access to resources through communication technologies supported by collaborative networks. Since coming to reside in Iowa in 2000, Dr. Davis has applied this scholarship to support Iowa teachers and U.S. teacher education, including increasing intercultural perspectives. Her research has been supported by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, UNESCO, the European Commission, corporations, charities, and universities. Dr. Davis has served as president of the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education and editor of the international journal Technology, Pedagogy and Education. She is author of numerous articles and books, including the book Teaching Effectively with Information Technology.

Dr. Davis serves as a consultant for universities, PreK-12 schools, educational ministries, and national and international agencies. She has directed two national projects: "Teacher Education Goes into Virtual Schooling" and "International Leadership for Education Technology," both funded by three-year grants from the U. S. Department of Education and other sources.
