Closing the Academic Gender
Gap:
Helping Boys Succeed in School
Boys are increasingly falling behind when measured by many indicators
of academic success including grades, reading skills, graduation rates,
persistence in higher education programs, and rates of disciplinary sanctions.
This discussion among educators from the University of Iowa analyzes
these difficulties and describes tools and strategies educators might
consider adopting when working with boys and young men that will help
assure boys' academic success.
