The Belin-Blank Center will host a Webinar, Identifying and Nurturing Young
Gifted Learners, to discuss critical issues in meeting the needs of
gifted children in our schools, grades PreK – 2, who are typically not assessed
by standardized instruments. This Webinar will be of special relevance for educators
and administrators who are focused on meeting state mandates and national standards
in gifted education as they relate to developing the talents of younger children.

Kimberly Chandler, Ph.D.,
is the Director of Curriculum at the Center for Gifted Education at the College
of William and Mary. Dr. Chandler completed her Master’s degree in gifted education
and her Ph.D. in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership with an emphasis in
gifted education at the College of William and Mary. Her professional background
includes teaching gifted students in a variety of settings, serving as an administrator
of a school district gifted program, providing professional development training
for teachers and administrators, and leading academic review teams for the Virginia
Department of Education. She has also taught gifted education endorsement courses
for The College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia. She has conducted
workshops on a variety of topics for parents, teachers, and administrators in numerous
states and internationally. Dr. Chandler is the past chair of the NAGC Early Childhood
Network.
