Director's Message

Dear Colleague:

The Belin-Blank Center is pleased to offer you a wide variety of different professional development workshops/courses. Each of these corresponds to one of the educational strands necessary for the Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement, and each helps develop your expertise in the CEC-NAGC Initial Knowledge & Skills Standards for Gifted and Talented Education (pdf).

All of us at the Belin-Blank Center are dedicated to providing you with information and opportunities that will enhance your work with gifted students. I trust you will find something of interest to you; please encourage your colleagues both within and outside the field of gifted education to consider our courses. We have planned classes and workshops that will provide you with research-based information for understanding gifted learners, providing them with appropriate programming, and gaining insights in how to coordinate and manage programs for gifted learners. Options include face-to-face learning experiences, both on campus and at extension sites, guided independent study, and online classes and workshops. If you and your colleagues would like to arrange a credit option at your site, please let us know—our administrator for professional development, Dr. Laurie Croft), will be happy to work with you to make local professional development options a reality.

As always, thank you for your interest in and support of the Belin-Blank Center. Most of all, thank you for your commitment to gifted children.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Colangelo, Director
Myron & Jacqueline Blank Professor of Gifted Education
