Student Advisory Committee

The Student Advisory Committee was organized as a method to allow students to provide input into the program. Another purpose is to provide current and prospective students information from other current students.

Currently the advisory committee is an informal body that meets monthly to provide input, discuss student needs, discuss potential monthly seminars, and other topics of interest. The meetings are open to all students and faculty in the Educational Measurement and Statistics Program. There are no elected positions and all students are strongly encouraged to participate.

The web site contains several new features, and we are looking for your help to help develop the content.  If you have recommendations for these pages, please contact Scott Wood or Joann Moore.

Computer Software: This page contains links to the publishers of statistical software that is common in our profession.  Additional links to help pages and message boards are also provided. If there is any software that we have missed, please let us know.

Career Information: For those that are unfamiliar with the field of educational measurement, this page is for you. This introduction to a career in measurement and statistics includes links to the career pages of major organizations, including NCME, AERA, ASA, and APA.  Our goal is to develop additional resources to present to high school and undergraduate students to inform prospective students of our profession.

Coder's Corner: Graduate students in our department are frequently developing software code to solve basic problems in measurement & statistics.  This page has been designed to present these programs to a wider audience. Graduate students are encouraged to submit sample R functions, SAS macros, software tutorials, and programming tips.

Media Highlights: The testing industry is discussed frequently in the news and in profession journals.  Graudate students are encouraged to submit articles and news about measurement and statistics.

Anyone who has ideas can contact Joann Moore or Scott Wood by email or visiting 200 LC.
