Housing Information & Suggestions:

There are many things you should consider when looking for a place to live, such as: do you want to live alone or with roommates?; do you want to drive to school, walk, ride a bus, or bike?; and so on. Listed below are links to both local cities that most students live in and rental agencies.

Local Cities:

Iowa City ~ this is of course where the university is located. There are many housing options, ranging from renting rooms to owning a home. Some parts of town attract large numbers of undergraduates, such as College St., and you may want to consider other parts of town. Has a great bus system and several areas are served by the UI Cambus system. See the transportation link below for route info.

Coralville ~ the east side of Coralville is located just 2 miles (depending on the route) from the Lindquist Center and downtown Iowa City. A growing bedroom community with fairly descent bus service to downtown Iowa City. Consider living on a bus route and in the part of the city south of I-80. See the transportation link below for route info.

University Heights ~ OK, to be honest this is really just a small part of Iowa City that during the day has a different police department. It is located relatively close to downtown and is served by Iowa City and UI buses.

North Liberty ~ another quite growing bedroom community. Located about 5 miles from Iowa City (again depending on route). Currently there is no bus service from North Liberty to either Coralville or Iowa City.
