Faculty Professional Development Awards, formerly called Career Development Award (CDA) are competitive University awards available to tenure-track and clinical-track faculty members after completing a specified length of service. The award provides a paid leave period (generally one semester) during which the faculty member is expected to produce one or more products for dissemination including but not limited to publication, exhibit, professional performance, or instruction. It is subject to payback requirements and a report on work accomplished during the leave is due at the beginning of the following semester.

The College of Education follows the guidelines and criteria for Professional Development Awards as found on the Provost's Faculty Awards web site. Instructions to submit applications and post-award reports online are also available on this site.

Please contact Sarah Lobb, Faculty Affairs Manager, at sarah-lobb@uiowa.edu with questions about the deadlines for applying for a Professional Development Award.
