Schools, Culture, and Society Graduate Program The faculty and graduate students of Schools, Culture, and Society (SCS) invite you to pursue an advanced course of study with us at The University of Iowa. The Schools, Culture, and Society program is an interdisciplinary program designed to enhance students’ ability to analyze the influence of social, historical, and philosophical factors that frame contemporary issues in the formal social enterprise of education. There are three Disciplinary Foundation Areas in the SCS Program: - Sociology
- History
- Philosophy
Program faculty have academic interests in these three areas and are united by their emphasis on providing graduate students with the teaching and research experiences that will serve them well in their future roles as academics, educational researchers, and policy analysts. The EPLS department offers both a Masters degree and a Ph.D. degree in Schools, Culture, and Society. Applications for the Ph.D. program will be reviewed beginning January 15th. All full-time Ph.D. applicants will be considered for the The William Duffy Schools, Culture and Society Doctoral Fellowship, which provides a full tuition scholarship and generous stipend. MA applications will be reviewed beginning February 15th. Questions? Contact Christopher Morphew, Program Coordinator |
