Teaching, Learning & Curriculum in Higher Education Concentration - Ph.D. View the page with information regarding the M.A. concentrations. The concentration in Teaching, Learning & Curriculum in Higher Education is designed to prepare students with a variety of backgrounds for a broad range of professional positions in higher and postsecondary education, such as: current or future faculty development professionals at community colleges and 4-year public or private institutions who seek positions in campus teaching centers; current or future college teachers at community colleges and 4-year public or private institutions who seek the Ph.D. in Higher Education as a terminal degree to complement the master’s or professional degrees in their primary teaching fields (e.g., nursing faculty); current or future faculty and administrators at community colleges and 4-year public or private institutions who seek positions as academic administrators with responsibilities related to the curricular, teaching, and learning elements of academic programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs; future university professors of higher education who wish to teach and conduct research in the areas of teaching, learning, curriculum, and faculty development in higher education; and future college and university professors in any discipline who are completing their terminal degree in the content and research methods of their teaching field, but also seek to complete a complementary concentration or outside minor in college teaching, learning, and curriculum in higher education.
