Everson Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
February 06, 2012
Foreign Language Education Associate Professor Michael Everson received overwhelming support from his colleagues and peers to be named as the 2012 recipient of the Cheng & Tsui Chinese Language Teachers Association’s Walton Lifetime Achievement Award.
Everson’s peers commend “his tireless advocacy for quality Chinese language pedagogy, his excellent scholarship in the study of reading Chinese, and his nearly two decades of service at the University of Iowa mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in Chinese.”
In her nomination letter Associate Professor of Chinese Helen Shen wrote, “Professor Everson is one of the foundational scholars who has made significant contributions to promoting empirical studies in the field. He not only serves as a role model for young scholars on how to conduct empirical studies in Chinese Foreign Language learning and teaching, but also spends time generously to mentor and help young scholars to be successful researchers.”
