April 14-16, 2011 1965-1975 College of Education graduates are invited back to campus to revisit that electric period in Iowa City and see what we’re up to now. Activities will include participation in the College of Education’s annual Diversity Conference, a tour of the ever-changing Lindquist Center, and a visit to the Old Capitol Museum’s exhibit, “Chaos and Creation on the Pentacrest,” which depicts life on campus between 1965 and 1975. Hong Kong Scholars Program and the China Scholars Program

About 40 high school students from Hong Kong and China -- now through Saturday, July 23 -- are visiting the University of Iowa campus as part of a two-week program to introduce them to college life. Five students from Hong Kong and 34 students from China are here through the Hong Kong Scholars Program and the China Scholars Program, both offered through the UI Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development.

The University of Iowa College of Education Speaker Series and Panel Discussion welcomes Jason Glass, director of the Iowa Department of Education, as the keynote speaker, followed by a panel discussion with these UI College of Education participants: Nick Colangelo, director of the UI College of Education's Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development; Ronald Felder, clinical professor in the UI Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies; Margaret Crocco, dean of the UI College of Education, who will speak in her capacity as a faculty member in the UI Department of Teaching and Learning; and Cathy Welch, of Iowa Testing Programs and also a professor in the UI Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations.

Mark Reckase, University Distinguished Professor of Measurement and Quantitative Methods at Michigan State University, will discuss "What Legitimate Inferences Can be Made from International Studies of Educational Achievement" at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Jones Commons, N300 Lindquist Center.
The annual William E. Coffman Lecture is presented by the University of Iowa College of Education's Iowa Measurement Research Foundation. It is free and open to the public.
