The website Assistant Professor Pamela Wesely created is a step forward toward an important movement in support of early foreign language education across Iowa’s public schools. The website is a clearinghouse of information about programs available and community-building.
Invent Iowa, one of the state’s original STEM programs, aims to support educators in promoting the invention process. This year, over 400 K-12 students representing 150 schools participated in the event.
Hosted through an intercollegiate partnership, the International Sociological Association’s Research Committee, known as RC28, held its North American meeting in Iowa City. Sociologists discussed research on the topic of how social inequality exists in schools, labor markets, and families.
Local high school students received hands-on experience with virtual reality technology as part of a partnership between Iowa City City High and the College of Education’s Teacher Leader Center.

Crocco is a featured guest on “Higher Education Today,” a monthly talk show about the contemporary higher education community produced by the University of the District of Columbia. In this episode, Crocco provides serious commentary on the underlying purpose of schools of education, Teach for America, teacher training versus subject-matter training, the education of teachers in other industrialized countries, among other current topics.
