Setting Up a Mac for Cluster Access - Mac OS X (10.2 or greater)

1. Use the Finder’s “Connect to Server” option to log into the ITS Cluster – the address is  smb://iowadata05.iowa.uiowa.edu Login with your HawkID and use “Iowa” for the Workgroup/Domain, then select the “COE” SMB Mount (see below).

2. A Finder window should open; select COE.  Drag the “Shared” folder (circled) to your Sidebar.  Next, select Users and find the folder named with your HawkID; drag this folder to the Sidebar.



 Remember you will always need to use the Connect to Server first to properly login in order to then access your data files.  Simply clicking on the shortcuts in the finder window (see graphic above) will not work.  You must log into the server first.

Powerbook Users:  If you are not connected to the network when you login you will get an error message saying you can’t connect to the Cluster.  If you get onto the network later, you can double-click the Site Icon file or use the “Connect to Server” option to connect to the Cluster.
