- Most laptops will automatically switch the output to the external LCD Projector (monitor).
- If the screen output of your laptop is not being projected on the screen, you may need to manually change the screen resolution of the laptop.
- The optimum refresh rate and resolution for the most data video projectors is 60 Hz, and 1024X768
- If the laptop is wireless make sure the wireless profile is setup properly. If you are connecting o the UI wireless system you will need to use a valid HawkID and password in order to authenticate properly.
- If you are off campus you will need to make sure the internet/network connection is properly configured for the site.
- If the laptop was powered on first the system will usually not detect the LCD video projector and the user will need to change the video output mode.
- This is usually accomplished through a function key combination and soemtimes using the control panels (system preferences on Apple Macintosh systems).
- Generally the key sequence is Fn+F8 or Fn+F3 (labeled LCD/CRT).
- Pressing this key combination will toggle through the output options: LCD only, CRT only, or both.
-
If the projector has multiple inputs you may need to select the input port that the VGA cable is connected to.
- Some projectors have an input select button on the top of the projector. Pressing this button will toggle through the input options.
- Other projectors require the user to select the proper input using an onscreen menu system. Typically this is accessed using the menu and arrow buttons on top of the projector.
