All University faculty and staff are requested to participate
in the 2008 Working at IOWA Survey, which will seek
input about your perceptions about working in 1) the College of Education
and 2) The University of Iowa as a whole. The results will be used to
identify strengths and areas for continuous improvement. Your responses
are confidential, and no personal identification will be attached to
your responses.
The survey will be available online from October 14 through
November 3 and should take only about 15 minutes to complete.
To further pique your participation in the survey, Human Resources
is sponsoring drawings for $100 gift certificates; you will be
entered into the drawings as soon as you complete the survey (your chances
of winning increase the earlier you participate!). For each of the
three weeks the survey will be available, three gift certificates will
be awarded: one Faculty, one Professional & Scientific, and one
Merit.
Your survey responses will be absolutely confidential. Although
Human Resources WILL have the names of those who have participated,
they will be kept separate from the responses. NAMES WILL NOT
BE ATTACHED TO ANY SURVEY RESPONSES. Units/departments that have at least
15 survey responses can obtain disaggregated results about their unit;
however, units/ departments and colleges will NOT have access to the
names of those who completed the survey.
Following the 2006 Working at Iowa Survey, the College of Education
took steps to respond to the most important concerns voiced by College
of Education employees. In response, for example, to COE concerns that “poor
performance” and “workplace conflicts” are managed
appropriately/constructively, COE HR has been more involved in departmental
conflict resolution. As well, in response to significant disagreement
to the statement that “feedback at my annual review helps
me improve my performance”, the College has been trying to ensure
that all employees have an annual performance evaluation, and that
all supervisors have access to information about conducting those evaluations
more effectively.
Participation in the Working at Iowa Survey is one way to
better advocate for the issues that impact your workplace. Join the COE Staff Council,
the Faculty Advisory Committee, and COE HR in completing the survey.
