Procedure:
  I will:
  1. Begin lesson by telling the children that I just told Mr. Cox that we have been very busy with our Gingerbread stories.
  2. Ask the children to fill in Mr. Cox on all that we have done.
  3. Ask the children to one at a time raise their hand and tell us what we have done to get ready to write our own stories.
  4. Close this conversation by telling Mr. Cox that we are all at different stages in our writing because we are our own authors.
  5. Tell the children that we are going to continue to work and that they can come up and meet with Mrs. May, myself, or Mr. Cox for help with their writing.
  6. Have child read his/her story.
Prepared Questions:
  • Are you happy with your story?
  • Can I help you with anything?

Checking to see if the child has control of the writing processes:
  • Are they drafting, revising, editing, publishing?
  • Could you read a part you especially like aloud to me?
  • How did you get your idea for this piece?
