My Classroom in Action

- Opening of Day -
The beginning of class is an important time to focus the students' attention on the day's activities. Welcome to my class.

- Motivation -

My classroom environment encourages all students to be active learners. My bilingual abilities help to encourage participation.

- Reading Groups -

Students are motivated to read by having the opportunity to self-select books that interest them. Students at this age can benefit from small reading groups. Students self-selected this title, Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak.

- Management -

Setting standards, creating structure with thoughtful & creative lesson planning, using proactive strategies and addressing students' needs through a child-centered approach allow me to have a supportive and safe classroom.

- Special Adaptations -

Accommodations include audio tape recordings of books (English & Spanish), audio quizzes for students with reading disabilities, & adaptive technologies using screen talker and voice recognition.
