Outstanding Mark: This indicates the piece of
work is original, creative, and thought provoking. This piece surpasses
the minimum requirements. The thesis is clear and supported by detail
and appropriate examples. There is a varied use of literary device,
smooth transitions, and fluidity of the work. Mechanical and usage errors
are few, if any. Work with an outstanding mark has the dominant characteristic
of uniqueness.
Above Average
Mark: This indicates work that demonstrates thought and some
originality. The work has a clear thesis and it is supported by appropriate
and adequate details. Some transitions are used to make reading smooth
from idea to idea. There are few mechanical and usage errors. Work with
an above average mark contains in depth thought, and moderate use of
literary devices.
Average Mark:This
indicates directions were followed and the minimum requirements were
met. Work is clear but fails to be supported by details and examples.
The work has purpose and an identifiable direction, but the logic strays
at times. There are a number of mechanical and usage errors. Work with
an average mark could still use additional revision in order to clear
up avoidable composing errors.
Passing Mark:
This indicates much additional work is needed. Directions were
loosely followed, and the paper fails to demonstrate little thought
or effort. There is an obvious lack of idea development, descriptive
language, and general logic to the work. Lack of transitions makes the
organization of the paper hard to follow. There are too many mechanical
and usage errors which demonstrate sloppy editing and proofreading.
Work with a passing mark minimally accomplishes the goals of the task.
Failing Mark:
This indicates that the student has not shown effort, or turned in any
completed work.
