Students will come to class with books read. Brainstorm themes of the different books students read. Allow students to talk about their books. This will determine book, writing, and project groups. Go over theme examples. Themes in Modern Literature Unit Overview:

Hand out paper topics

Discuss paper topics & grading criteria

Students will brainstorm ideas that fit within these paper topics.

Putting the research together. After reading through several different viewpoints how did these differ from or support your thoughts on the novel? Informal class writing on the surprises you found. Examples from CN Writing day

In class:

Design Issues will be covered. Students will spend time practicing design issues.

Storyboarding Computer Lab: Students will spend the day creating the visual portion of their web project. Through collecting backgrounds, scanning bookcovers, and collecting clipart students will be ready to incorporate visuals into their web pages. Computer Lab:

Web Page Instruction Day

Students will be given step by step instructions on how to use a web page editor.

Work day and individual instruction and feedback. Revising and reworking writing on the web for paper 2.

Computer Lab:

Work day and partner instruction and feedback. Revising and reworking writing on the web with partners.

Computer Lab:        Work day and group instruction and feedback. Revising and reworking writing on the web with theme groups.

Web page 2 due, final partner page, and theme group page

Complete Feedback from unit.          
Introduce new unit.     
Let students know that we will be observing the final Web projects as soon as I get them together on the web site. They will also receive their final grade at this time.
