Welcome to the Educational Administration Program! Faculty, students, and staff invite you to join us in pursuing an advanced degree or licensure as a school leader at The University of Iowa. The educational administration program offers degrees and licensure for pre-K-12 school leadership. Three graduate degrees are available: Master of Arts, Specialist, and Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration. We also provide licensure for pre-K-12 principals, superintendents, and special education administrators. We welcome students from other disciplines who are interested in pursuing administrative licensure or would like to enroll in our courses as electives. Our program is designed for working professionals. Most of our students are practicing teachers pursuing the MA and principal licensure or practicing administrators pursuing an advanced degree and superintendent licensure. Classes are offered in the evening during the regular academic year and during the six-week summer session so that students can complete their degrees and licensure while working. The educational administration program is committed to preparing educators to be effective school leaders, professors, and policymakers. The licensure programs and MA are very specific in their requirements, but the Ed.S. and Ph.D. degree provide flexibility for students to pursue their individual interests. Program faculty members represent a wide variety of experiences and research interests. Two new faculty members have recent experience as school principals and policy makers at the state level. Two experienced faculty members are published authors recognized for their areas of expertise. The collective faculty represents a balance of theory and practice. Having experienced and new faculty provides a balance in program delivery as we collaborate to accommodate the needs of our students. For more information regarding our courses of study, admission requirements, or current faculty and graduate students, please visit our website. If you have any questions about our program, please contact us. Marcus Haack, Program Coordinator |
