Audrey Qualls Commitment to Diversity Award

 

The Audrey Qualls Commitment to Diversity Award is a student nominated
award given annually to a faculty and a staff member in the College to
recognize their demonstrated commitment to Diversity.  The award was
named in honor of Professor Qualls because she was a selfless,
hardworking individual who always supported and advocated for students
of color. Nominations are solicited each spring and the awards are presented at the Spring Diversity Picnic.

Specifically, the nominee is someone who:

1. Displays attitudes showing a commitment to diversity

2. Includes issues focusing on diversity as an integral part of course content

    or daily work activities

3. Recognizes that there is diversity in terms of learning and interaction

    styles, and tries to accommodate for this by using a variety of modalities

    and tools

4. Displays commitment to all students

5. Encourages students to offere their viewpoints

6. Conducts research and/or is involved in activities that reflect a

    commitment to diversity.

The award will be presented to the honorees at the annual Diversity Committee Spring Picnic on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2007 at 12:00 noon.

(NOTE: Members of the Diversity Committee are not eligible for the award.)
