Straight Talk about LGBT Issues in the Schools: Panel Presentation.
October 9th, 3:30-4:30 pm 301 S Lindquist
- In the Summer of 2008 a gay teen who was out to his school was shot dead by a classmate. His murder, and other similar incidents across the nation over the last decade, highlight that issues of sexuality and identity still persist in American schools. Join us in the College of Education where a panel of out LGBT youth, gay and lesbian parents, school administrators and teachers discuss the issues prevalent in schools and offer College of Education students sound advice on ways to help make schools safe spaces for all students and families. This event is open to the community.
College of Education Night "Out" at the Cultural and Resource Centers.

- Join College of Education faculty, staff and students at the Cultural Centers:
*Afro-American Cultural Center
*Asian Pacific American Cultural Center
*Latino Native American Cultural Center
*Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center
In celebration of our shared Diversity, the College of Education is hosting a progressive dinner, with refreshments at each of the cultural/resources centers as a way for COE members and community members to connect with resources and others with a shared vision of diversity. Start your evening at any of the houses and make your way to the others over the course of the evening. This is a free event and no reservations are required. This is a great way to see what's happening in the community, and a great way opportunity to visit the resource and cultural centers if you haven't already done so.
Maps to the cultural/resource centers see below:
