Upcoming Events:

"Baby Shower" - Tuesday, April 24, 2012 - Noon-1, Jones Commons

April is "shower" the Johnson County Crisis Center Month.   

Bring an item to be donated which may include non-expired, unopened baby formula, diapers of all sizes, non-expired baby food, baby wipes, baby shampoo, lotion, powder, or tubes of diaper rash cream. Please, no clothing, blankets or toys. 

A baby picture contest will take place during the event as well. Correctly guess the identity of baby pictures shared by COE staff to win a prize.

If you are unable to attend, please drop donated supplies off in room 300D on or before April 30th.

This initiative corresponds with the new, yet being created, community involvement component for University of Iowa staff.

Monthly Council Meetings

Currently scheduled for the second Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. in 210A LC.  Meeting notification will be sent via email to all constituents.

        Strategic Planning Focus Groups - February 14 - March 8, 2012

Dean Crocco and the COE advisory councils invite faculty, staff, and student participation in upcoming Roundtables sessions, held February 14-March 8 in Jones Commons. The purpose of these sessions will be to refine goals and develop tactics while engaging with colleagues in the creation of a compelling plan for the future

Compensation and Classification FAQ

Representatives from Human Resources will be on hand to answer questions about the compensation portion of the recent Compensation and Classification redesign. This FAQ will be held in conjunction with the Engineering Staff Council.

 

Violent Incident Survival Training

The College of Education Staff Council & Faculty Advisory Committee will host this event. Training open to all COE Faculty and Staff and is relevant to all office space & classroom scenarios. It is not designed to scare you into thinking there is a violent situation lurking around every corner. It is designed to prepare you with knowledge should you be in a violent situation. To sign up, visit the "My Training" section of your Employee Self Service page. The course description is "Violent Incident Survival COE". Online sign up will be available until Noon on Monday, September 26.

 

Dean Margaret Crocco's Welcome Reception

 The staff council along with the Faculty Advisory Council and the four Department Executive Officers sponsored a welcome reception for the new Dean of the College of Education, Margaret Crocco. This served as an opportunity for faculty and staff to hear Dean Crocco speak, answer some questions submitted by faculty and staff and share refreshments as they mingled and got to meet Dean Crocco and her husband. This was a great way to help introduce Dean Crocco to everyone in the college.

FAQ: P & S Shared Governance Celebration

Updates from the COE Working at Iowa Ad-Hoc Committee and our COE Staff Council’s upcoming election to fill three vacant seats will also be shared.

Compensation and Classification update:
Karen Shemanski and Bob Millsap will provide updates to the College of Education on the progress of the Placement Committees who reviewed the JIF (Job Information Forms) submitted by P&S staff on campus. In addition to updates, they will provide answers to all those questions you might have.

Job Information Form (JIF) - All non-organized professional and scientific staff will have the opportunity to describe their jobs on a new JIF. A pilot project is now underway to test the JIF using a random sample of University of Iowa Staff.

Expert Panels have completed their work and the job family progressions they have developed are being reviewed for clarity and consistency across the panels. An announcement will be provided to all staff when these are posted on the UI Human Resources website.
