Ernie Pascarella is Mary Louise Petersen Professor of Higher Education at the University of Iowa where he teaches Research Design and the Impact of College on Students. He has received numerous awards for his research from national professional and scholarly associations, including the 2003 Howard R. Bowen Distinguished Career Award from the Association for the Study of Higher Education. His most recent publications include How College Affects Students (Vol. 2): A Third Decade of Research and Liberal Arts Colleges and Liberal Arts Education: New Evidence on Impacts, an ASHE Higher Education Report.

Elizabeth Whitt is Director of Student Success Initiatives for the Office of the Provost at the University of Iowa. She is also a Professor in Graduate Programs in Student Affairs where she teaches Student Affairs Administration and Qualitative Research Methods. She has received several awards in recognition of her contributions to research and scholarship, including the Contribution to Knowledge Award (2007) and the Annuit Coeptis Senior Professional Award (1999) from ACPA - College Student Educators International, the Early Career Scholar Award (1995) from the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), and the Robert H. Shaffer Distinguished Alumna/Alumnus Award from Indiana University. Her most recent publications include Student Success in College: Creating Conditions That Matter and Assessing Conditions to Enhance Educational Effectiveness: The Inventory for Student Engagement and Success.
