Honors and Awards Presented to CRUE Members

2008

Ernie Pascarella received an honorary doctorate from Blackburn College at its 139th commencement ceremony.

Tricia Seifert, Kathy Goodman, Noel Harmon, and Sherry Watt received a $1,500 research grant from the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation for a study titled, "The Relationship between Spiritual Well-Being, Purpose in Life, and Student Affairs Practice."

Kathy Goodman and Jamie Jorgenson won 2nd place at The University of Iowa College of Education's 2008 Martin Luther King, Jr. Diversity Research Symposium for their poster titled, "How Do Race and Socioeconomic Background Influence Experiences of Good Practices in Undergraduate Education?"

Ashley Asel won 4th place at The University of Iowa College of Education's 2008 Martin Luther King, Jr. Diversity Research Symposium for her poster titled, "Gender Differences in Moral Development During the First Year of College."


2007

Ernie Pascarella received a Regents Award for Faculty Excellence, which is the highest award that can be given by The University of Iowa to a faculty member.

Elizabeth Whitt received ACPA's Contribution to Knowledge Award in recognition of significant contributions to research and scholarship about college students and student affairs work.

Tricia Seifert was a finalist for the Bobby Wright Dissertation of the Year Award presented by the Association for the Study of Higher Education.

Mark Salisbury received ACPA's Global Dimensions of Student Development
Research Award.

Mark Salisbury received AIEA's Josephson Award based on exemplary graduate research in the field of international education. He was also invited to attend the 2008 AIEA conference in Washington, DC to present a poster of his research.

Kathy Goodman received the International Programs Student Leadership Award from the Office of International Programs at The University of Iowa for culturally competent leadership and exceptional involvement in Bridging Domestic and Global Diversity: A Training Program for Student Leaders.

2006

Tricia Seifert won 2nd place at The University of Iowa's 2006 James F. Jakobsen Conference in the Social Sciences and Education division for a paper titled, "The Effects of Diverse Faculty Characteristics on Dimensions of Job Satisfaction."

Kathy Goodman won a Midwestern Higher Education Compact Award, a graduate student grant to attend a policy summit about the Spellings Commission Report.

2005

Tricia Seifert received AIR's 2005 Summer Data Policy Institute Fellowship.

Tricia Seifert won the 2nd and 3rd place prizes at The University of Iowa College of Education's Martin Luther King, Jr. Diversity Symposium for posters titled, "The Effects of Diverse Faculty Characteristics on Dimensions of Job Satisfaction: A Literature Review" and (with Jerri Drummond) "African American Students' Experiences of Good Practices: A Comparison of Institutional Type."

Kathy Goodman received the ISPA Scholar Award presented by the Iowa Student Personnel Association in recognition of her accomplishments as a graduate student in the field of student affairs.
