Counselor Education & Supervison

Ph.D. Admissions

Students are admitted for the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. Applications are reviewed as they are received by the program faculty for admission during the following semester. Applicants are encourage to check with the financial aid office for deadlines regarding financial aid. 

Admission Requirements

  • Complete graduate application form.


  • Copies of official transcripts of all previous college work, including both graduate and undergraduate. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better on a four-point scale is required.


  • Official report of Graduate Record Examination scores are required to be on file. These scores are used in aggregate as an indicator of as the CES program reputation. On an individual level the scores may be used as criteria for special graduate assistantships or awards.
  • Statement of reasons for seeking an advanced degree including a statement of personal career objectives.


  • A personal interview is required. Typically interview are face-to-face but telephone interviews are acceptable in certain cases.


  • Three current letters of recommendation from persons in a position to assess the applicant's prospects for completing his or her doctoral degree and commitment to the profession.

 

International students are required to provide a TOEFL score with their applications. Typically a score of 580 is needed to demonstrate necessary language proficiency. Depending on the TOEFL score, the student may be required to take and pass course work in English usage, designed to test the proficiency of international students.
